Meet the team
Our team is embedded within Shropshire Council and its local authority partners across Herefordshire and Telford & Wrekin.
Our Quality leads provide a hub-wide layer of thematic leadership that complements local authority support, ensuring all institutions have access to targeted expertise, shared resources, evidence-based improvement strategies and opportunities to learn from effective practice across the Marches.
Andriané Usherwood-Brown
Strategic Skills Lead: Careers, Emerging Talent & Partnerships
I have worked in Careers for around nine years, carrying out a range of roles such as careers lead of a secondary school, careers coordinator of an academy trust, embedding careers education into 3 secondary schools in a cohesive way, as well as carrying out the role of Enterprise Coordinator for Telford & Wrekin schools and colleges.
I have a passion for careers education and believe that the work we are carrying out in helping to bring employers and the work force of the future together is vital to ensuring that our young people have the skills required to be successful in achieving their aspirations. The work we carry out is extremely important and impacts on many young people’s lives and aspirations.
Sharon Ruff
Operational Careers Hub Lead
I am a qualified careers guidance practitioner and have been working in careers education and guidance for almost 30 years now. I have supported young people in diverse settings including mainstream schools, further education colleges, SEND provision, pupil referral units and community-based projects. I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to be involved in some training and development work, as well as undertaking careers leadership and co-ordination tasks in some of those settings. I have thoroughly enjoyed being part of teams who are working towards high quality careers provision, and believe that this is central to equipping young people to thrive and achieve.

Today's career paths are more complex than ever. With over 20 years' experience as a Level 7 & 6 CEIAG qualified Careers Consultant/Leader in diverse settings (mainstream schools, FE/HE, SEND, PRUs, youth offending), I've helped countless individuals navigate the complexities of today's challenging career landscape. My passion is empowering organisations to deliver a high-quality careers provision, so that they can facilitate meaningful engagements for their learners, which will equip them with the skills and confidence to achieve their aspirational goals. In my capacity as a Quality Lead I will strive to uphold this mission by delivering exceptional guidance and support.

Quality Lead - Encounters with Employers and Experiences of the Workplace
I have spent my entire career working in technology recruitment, building and nurturing relationships with businesses across the region, helping them source IT and Digital talent. This has led me to support hundreds of people to advance their careers and also to have an in-depth knowledge of the requirements of the local business community.
I am now keen to share my knowledge and experience with young people entering the workforce, encourage local businesses to get more involved in school career programmes and help bridge the gap between education, career guidance and the world of work.
